What is endometriosis?
Small patches of uterine lining tissue (called endometrium) migrate to and implant themselves in other parts of the pelvic areas such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterine muscles, colon, bladder and sides of the pelvic cavity. These endometrial implants contain brown blood debris and upon rupturing, they spill into the pelvic cavity creating irritation and inflammation. During menstruation, these endometriomas swell with blood and bleed, after which scar tissue forms in the injured location leading to a buildup of dense tissue adhesions. The pain and inflammation can be debilitating.
Causes of endometriosis include:
- Estogen dominance
- Early onset of menses and delayed first pregnancy
- Underactive thyroid gland
- Exposure to environmental estrogens – chemicals, animal products.
- Weakened immunity
- Candidiasis
- Stressful emotional patterns
Some of these causes are the reasons endometriosis can tend to come back, even after you have removed the adhesions and scar tissue. Or these causes could PREVENT you from healing the adhesions or scar tissue…it’s like trying to swin UPSTREAM. Only salmon can do that! You have to address the root cause in order to completely resolve this issue.
I will be discussing each of these root causes in depth, one by one, over the next few days. And how you can start taking the right steps to address each of them.
